Man City vs PSG: Man City favoured to reach Champions League final

The UEFA Champions League is back in action with another set of crucial semi-final fixtures this weekend as Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City lock horns at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday.

Both teams have exceptional players in their ranks and have a point to prove in Europe’s premier competition this month.

Both sides boosted their chances of domestic success at the weekend, as Man City overcame Crystal Palace 2-0 while PSG kept their title hopes alive with a 2-1 win over Lens.

Pep Guardiola will be hoping to break his duck in the UEFA Champions League with Manchester City, in the second leg of the semi-final.

Manchester City have won 32 of their last 35 matches in all competitions. They have a 13 point lead in the Premier League and are certain to win the title. Pep Guardiola has not won the UEFA Champions League in a decade, and has a fair few demons to exorcise on Tuesday.

Paris Saint-Germain have won four of their last five matches. The French champions are one point behind Lille in Ligue 1 with three matches remaining.

The French champions can be a devastating force on their day and will need to be at their best against a strong Manchester City outfit.

Man City vs PSG Predictions:

  • Man City have won 32 of their last 35 matches (all competitions).
  • Man City are undefeated in 20 of their last 21 matches (UEFA Champions League).
  • Man City have seen under 2.5 goals in 3 of their last 5 matches (all competitions).
  • Man City have seen under 1.5 goals in their last 2 home matches against PSG (all competitions).
  • Man City have won their last six Champions League matches.
  • PSG have drawn 2 of their last 4 matches against Man City (all competitions).
  • PSG have won their last 10 away matches (all competitions).
  • PSG are undefeated in 6 of their last 8 matches (UEFA Champions League).
  • PSG have seen under 2.5 goals in 2 of their last 4 matches (UEFA Champions League).

Manchester City are unbeaten in all four previous European meetings with PSG, winning their last home match against them in April 2016 in the second leg of that season’s Champions League quarter-final.

Manchester City have a surprisingly impressive record against Paris Saint-Germain and have won two out of four games played between the two teams. Paris Saint-Germain have never defeated the Cityzens in an official fixture and will need to step up this week.

The first leg between the two teams last week witnessed a stunning second-half comeback from Manchester City and ended in a 2-1 victory for the English side. Paris Saint-Germain seemed shell-shocked for parts of the game and will need to put in a much better performance on Tuesday.

Tuesday’s second leg represents the fifth meeting between Man City and PSG in all competitions, and the Ligue 1 giants have failed to win any of their previous games against their semi-final opponents.

They met in the 2015/16 UEFA Champions League quarter-finals, Man City earning a 2-2 draw in Paris before winning 1-0 in Manchester.

PSG have won their last 10 away matches and can match Man City in the second leg.

Manchester City have transitioned into a unique juggernaut under Pep Guardiola this season and are likely to persist with their midfield-heavy formation in this fixture.

The Cityzens are well-set to dominate possession in their own backyard but will have to be wary of Paris Saint-Germain’s dangerous counters.

Manchester City have generational talents of their own, and may well hold out to progress to the UEFA Champions League final for the first time in their history this week.
