Brentford vs Swansea: prediction, team news and more

A place in the Premier League will be on the line when Brentford take on Swansea in the Championship Play-Off Final at Wembley on Saturday.

The Bees beat Bournemouth 3-2 on aggregate in a dramatic semi-final and are now looking to go one better than a year ago.

This time they hope it can get better, and especially after staging a great fight and fine comeback to see off Bournemouth in the semis.

Swansea were also in last season’s playoffs and were knocked out in the semi-finals by Brentford, but reached the final this time around by seeing off Barnsley.

In their last seven matches, Swansea have managed just two wins and their only clean sheet in that run was against Barnsley in the first leg of the semi finals.

Swansea have beaten Brentford just once in the last six meetings and lost three.

Brentford vs Swansea predictions:

  • Swansea have two wins in the last seven matches.
  • Swansea have three losses in the last six meetings with Brentford.
  • Swansea have one clean sheet in seven matches.
  • Brentford have failed to get promoted nine times through playoffs.
  • Brentford are unbeaten in three matches against Swansea.

These teams drew 1-1 in both meetings, making it three unbeaten outings for Brentford after the win in the playoff semis last season.

The clubs also met in last season’s play-off too at the semi-final stage and the London club won 3-2 on aggregate.

This is Brentford’s tenth playoff campaign and they have not won a single promotion from the previous nine, the worst record of any club in English football.

Brentford are perhaps surprisingly clear favourites for the showdown, given how edgy these games can be.

Our prediction: Brentford win @ 1.92
