Manchester City vs. Lyon – prediction, team news and odds

Manchester City will be hoping to book their spot in the semi-finals of the Champions League on Saturday evening when they take on Lyon in a single-leg contest at the Estadio da Luz in Lisbon.

The winners of this match at the Estadio Jose Alvalade, which will be played over just one leg, will face either Bayern Munich in next week’s semi-finals.

Lyon are among the lowest profile clubs left in this season’s Champions League. Lyon were turned over in each of their last three Champions League away assignments.

The Citizens knocked out perennial winners Real Madrid over two legs in the last round, while Lyon stunned Italian champions Juventus to progress.

With six wins and two draws from eight Champions League outings this term, City have been one of the competition’s most consistent teams.

The Citizens are averaging 2.5 goals per 90 minutes in the Champions League this season.

City have been drawing at half-time in their last four Champions League games and have gone on to win three of those, while Lyon went in level in the clash against Juventus last time out before losing the match 2-1.

City and Lyon picked up impressive results in the last 16, knocking out Madrid and Juventus respectively. The French side cannot be written off, but they have lost four matches in a row either side of the coronavirus hiatus and finished seventh in the shortened Ligue 1 campaign.
